Re: Can't See Styles?!?! Offering Reward!
Hi Mark,
Our goal is to support the users as best as we know how, not to dissuade
them from using other software. If there is a better way to go, feel free to
share. The Dreamweaver solution was provided because Dreamweaver can take
over ownership of XML files and may cause Fusion to be unable to view them
via the style view. This is what I understood the issue to be. In the
original support thread I had basically gone over all scenarios I have come
across in the past.

Dreamweaver does not modify how the system sees XML files... it simply
changes the OPEN WITH under file type.
If there is an issue with Fusion displaying XML files when DW is installed,
its news to everyone here - because many of us use DW just as much as
Fusion without issue.
Fusion displays styles by simply reading an XML file datasource. Unless
the XML file is changed in content, nothing should break... DW does not
change content of XML when it is installed.
If Fusion has trouble displaying content derived from an XML datasource
when the OPEN WITH is not typical default, then Fusion has a serious bug.
XML is just data - how it is used and rendered to a display is Fusion.
Im not trying to start a flame, but I am seeing more and more people run
into issues with support. WSP Support lacks the personal contact needed to
resolve technical issues... simply bouncing emails to users with KB ideas
is cold and harsh...you guys need to offer telephone support where users
can get interactive with the support tech... an even better option would be
to provide users remote access options such as your techs using Webex
(www.webex.com) where your tech and the user can view the issue at hand
together. I know all of this costs money... so why not offer the free
email only support you currently do, but also offer a higher class of
support where your tech can utilize the telephone and tools such as Webex?
Lack of solid support has always been the major complaint of the user base.
Again, Im not trying to flame you or this single incident... Im just
pointing out an example of the entire structure that I believe is flawed.

Re: Can't See Styles?!?! Offering Reward!
Hi James,
Please advise, is c:[slash] windows [slash] system32 [slash] msxml3.dll
on your system or not?
If it is then it is possible that the dll is incorrectly registered or
has become corrupted, if it is not then you need to find it, download it
and register it. This failure can, despite what MS says happen, though
it is rare. The other point is that it is a MS specific xml process,
which other programs may not use. This can create the situation where
XML functions in some cases but not others. To be fair to NetObjects
this is very difficult to deal with at a distance, and is not helped by
MS' multiple xml 'fixes'.
I'll await you answer before clogging up the 'airwaves' with suggestions.
Regards
Ted

Re: Can't See Styles?!?! Offering Reward!
Hi, James,
What happens when you go to your styles folder in Windows Explorer? Are all
the styles there?
A style, depending on how complicated it is, consists of a file called
'style.css' - and subfolders for banners, backgrounds, data list items,
primary buttons and so on.
In these folders there should be a number of gifs, e.g., in the banner
folder there's a file called 'banner.gif'.
Are they there? Sometimes there will also be a 'style.ssf' file and a
'style.ssx' file.
If they're there, open them up in an image editor. Any will do, including
XP's built-in 'Windows Picture and Fax Viewer'.
Unless you've changed the installation folder, they'll be in 'C://Program
Files/NetObjects Fusion/8.0/Styles' - or something similar.
That would be the first step to take.

Hello James,
Thank you for your email.
This may be a bad install, you state, "No matter which nod file I have
open I have the same problem Even in NOF 7.5, 8, and 9". Do you have
these versions installed or are you speaking of just the nod files and
where they were created? Also do you have any sites created (besides
these nod files) that you need to save? If you do go ahead and back them
up (you can copy the user sites folder and save it somewhere). Once that
is done go ahead and uninstall Fusion 9 and delete the remaining folders
(again make sure to back up any sites you have first). Now reinstall
Fusion to the default directory.
Should you require further assistance please select ?Reply? to this

I still have the full program 7.5, 8 and 9 NOF still installed.
I will back up all versions, and uninstall them all then reinstall 9.0
to the default directory. Then get back to you.
Thank you!

Hello Angst,
Thank you for your email.
Do you happen to have Dreamweaver installed on your machine? Any other
web editing software? I know certain versions of Dreamweaver will alter
the way the XML files are viewed, this creates the exact issue you are
describing. Please let me know if this is the case, an uninstall of
Dreamweaver will take care of the problem if this is so.
