this effect in Flash Professional or some other Flash authoring program like
Swishmax.

Without doubt, an interesting effect but, apart from showing how "clever"
the designer/author can be, I wonder what major long term benefit this would
have over something that is less complex. I guess it just comes down to how
you want to get your message across, what your target audience is (not who
the client is) and if they (the audience) would be more receptive to this
approach than something more traditional.

Horses for courses I guess.

I use desktop author, it does magazines, catalogs etc...I only use the E
Book version which is web usable, cleaver software.

So do we. It's a nice bit of software. It's also got a form of DRM built in
and the ability to allow the reader (if required) to view a few pages and
wet their appetite then ask them to buy the book if they want to carry on
reading or just give it away free. Interesting concept as people can
distribute the book and the next person to read it on a new machine also
gets asked to pay. Sort of viral marketing I guess.
