    Default Exporting Style to Template?

I exported all my NOD files to templates before I re-installing Windows XP.
Now when I use the templates NOF says the style is not availabale and to
choose another. I'm sure I did this before and NOF imports the style along
with everything else. I hope so as my sites look terrible now and I don't
know how I'm going to find the time to fix all of them.

Have you copied the templates to disk and then into NOF templates folder
    yet?

Not sure what you mean since NOF installs the Styles when I re-installed
    NOF.

    Hi Martin.

<I exported all my NOD files to templates before re-installing Windows XP.>

Fine. But did you save those templates to an external location BEFORE you
re-installed XP and NOF? That is important.

It should be available if you copied your saved template(s) to the NOF
templates folder. The method is to open a NEW blank site based on your
    previously saved template(s).

I saved my templates to another hard drive which I use for back ups. Then I
formatted C: installed XP then NOF. Copies all my templates back into the
template folder and even my user sites nod files back into that folder. Now
the styles used for these sites are not NOF styles so the styles that NOF
reinstalls won't be of any help. I just thought that exporting to templates
carries everything including any custom style.

    Hi Martin,

Template files do contain everything, including custom styles. Nancy
gave you the right instruction --

You must create new site files based on your templates. File, New Site,
    From Template.

Your old NOD (site files) are useless at this point, you may as well
delete them. Going forward, work with the new sites you create from your
    templates.

Thanks Karl I did as you both suggested but the template is missing
something as I have no navigation buttons or style sheet since all the text
boxes overlap with incorrect font size and so on and so on. I never thought
I would have to test my templates after making them.

I often hear about template and NOD problems here. Why doesn't NOF have a
simple Backup button and a simple Restore button? So many programs have that
feature and it would make easier.

    Hi Martin,

I can not imagine what could be wrong with your templates that would
cause the style pieces to go missing. My mileage must differ, because I
have never once had a failure with NOF when starting a new site project
    from a template zip file.

The template feature in NOF is (in my experience) a 100% reliable way to
back up a site project or move it from one computer to another.

Try starting a new site from the attached zip file and tell me what you
    get...

    Cheers,
    Karl

    Hi Karl,

Your template works fine. Everything is there and I can publish it as well.
I can do this with all my sites except this one which has a custom style.
Attached is a screen capture which shows how the style and style sheets are
not working and the error I get when publishing.

This is what it is suppose to look like on the web www.mhpo.com and I'll
have to rebuild the entire site before I can attempt to update the site
online. If there is some tip you can give to restore this that would be too
    cool.

    Hi Martin,

    Interesting, and unfortunate :-(.

That template I sent you is a custom site style that I created, and you
were able to import and use it. So your copy of NOF is working normally...

At this point, the only possible source I can think of for your problem
is that you possibly created your custom site style by modifying one of
the pre-defined site styles that come with NOF. Then, when you
reinstalled, that pre-defined style could no longer find your custom
images for the banner and navbar button images.

The good news is that if you build a new custom site style with its own
unique name, set the images you want as banner and nav buttons, you can
apply it to your existing pages, and you're done.
