    Default Snippet Master

I have to say, I checked out that snippet master program that someone
suggested and I was blown away. Anyone that has the need to have
clients edit portions of a web site - we now have an EXCELLENT solution
to the problem. It blows away the others I have tried.

No image uploading though, which is always the first feature I look for.
the other one linked to toko?? did have this as it uses my fave editor,
    FCKeditor.
Might be looking into that one soon...

Richard, I'm curious... does it store the edited text in a separate
external file? Or does it just re-write the NOF page with the added
    text inserted directly into it?

I would say it would work similar to yours LBA, there would be txt files
that contain the html generated by the editor.

    <!-- #BeginSnippet name="My editable area" -->

Place any HTML code you wish to make editable here...

    <!-- #EndSnippet -->

Yuh, I saw that but it still leaves me wondering... and I was hoping I
didn't have to install it to answer that question. If it works well, I
could pull down my CMS system and not have to worry about answering
people's quesitons ;-) Has anyone tried SnippetMaster yet? Does it
edit the NOF file or store in a separate file?

    Hi Laurence,

From what I've gathered browsing the FAQ's and the User Forum, it only
changes the HTM in place and does not save the old text. One of the posts
in the Forum ( in response to a question in a similiar vein) by the Admin
stated that he was thinking of adding that type of functionality in a
future release..... but looking at the date stamps on the latest revision
one wonders how much more might be changed. The current release is fairly
    old.

Actually upload features come with the paid version and he has a pay

This would be the one feature I do not like. It does not use an include
file and edits text that is between too comment brackets. So if one
were to change a page that a client has edited in NOF one would need to
copy and past the edited area into the NOF page that is being changed to
    avoid losing the changes.
I have seen the LBM program and it is more complicated, uses an include
file so you don't have to worry about changes in NOF. But I do not like
the editor - it puts in several unnecessary <span> tags. The free
snippet master blows away the $15 LBM - BUT it uses an include file
making editing in NOF less of a concern.
Having seen both - my choice is snippet master hands down. I am
emailing them to consider using include files as a feature.

As a afterthought - I would say the use of an include file is LBM's
strongest point. LBM does what it is supposed to do, the unnecessary
<div> tags are the result of the opensource editor used not LBM and the
price is certainly right. But I believe "edit fearful" clients would
find the opensource editer in LBM more awkward to use.
Snippetmaster allows for full page edits - which I see as nightmarish
for client usage. But the program allows you to block that for any user
    you assign.
So one has to balance the inconvenience of having to be more cautious
with client edited pages in NOF. LBM allows you to edit away in NOF
without having to worry about what the client has added or changed. I
think for NOF or any other editor user - this is a major issue to consider.
Frankly, I was a little surprised that snippetmaster, given the obvious
deveopment that went into it, didn't consider using includes like LBM.

Yes, the last update was a year ago and that caught my eye also.
Personally I think there is certainly a market out there for people that
prefer the include file method verses editing the html. There is also
the fact LBM's pricing structure makes it much more affordable to use it
on multiple sites whereas snippetmaster has a price per site fee
structure. He is flexible on the price - but that is a factor to be
    considered.
Also, LBM could easily be edited to brand it so people don't have to
know another program is being used but I have not yet discussed how the
author would feel about this. It would certainly be another strong
point since snippetmaster has a fee per site for the branded version
where you are able to hide who wrote the software.
