still unable to external link nav bar
Dave, thanks for the step-by-step and as I feared your instructions are
almost exactly what I have been doin with one exception.
once I have added the external link to the right side, I go back to link
type and change it to internal and click on 2 pages from the left side and
add them to the structure on the right. the end result should be 3 buttons
in the nav bar with the top one being the external link back to the original
site and the other 2 linking to other galleries on the second site.
results are that the internal links work, but the external link gives the
error I reported yesturday.
Also I have not been able to rename the button once the link is added on the
right side.

Tony,
Not sure why you would be having so much trouble (unless I just don't
understand the problem).
Once your nav bar is created, select the "Edit Custom..." button. Then from
the Custom Navigation Bar Structure panel, select External Link from the
drop down Link Type menu. Type in the web address of the link you want to
go to and selct SAVE. Select the new external link (on the left) and press
ADD to bring it over to the right side of the panel. From there you can drag
it to any position in the menu bar (and also rename it if you don't want it
to display in the menu as the link address). You can also select a target if
you don't want the page to open in the same browser window. That's about
it...if you are having some other problem, let me know.

Re: still unable to external link nav bar
I'm on a newsgroup reader - not the web, so I can't find your error message
post.
Delete the old nav bar. Create a new custom nav bar with only the external
link. Local Publish and test to see if the link works. External links need
to point to something on an active server. If the link fails, it's because
your url is not typed correctly (Unix servers are CaSE sEnSitiVe) or the
external page isn't where you think it is.
