Exactly! and this was included in my consultation at the bottom in white

Nice site the content is great, I enjoyed the whole site, my only comment
would be that for such a well laid out and presented site the font does not
suit the site, not sure if its the colour or the font style etc, but it lets
the site down from being a great site to being a brilliant site, (I am not a
web developer I design my own sites with NOF 9 and 10 so maybe what I think
    is not relevant).

    "Brilliant" is lower than "Great"???

Depends on what part of the world you come from I suppose, where I come from
Briliant is better than great, I will never get to briliant or intellegent
in web design mores the pity, but like music or art you don't have to be
good to appreciate something that is well made.

Whew, thanks Mike, the only time the word "brilliant" has been used in my
direction, it was dripping with sarcasm <g>

I'm interested in your comment on the font though, because I put a bit of
thought into my choice for body copy, with the understanding that the
Arial-Helvetica was the most readable and most common cross-platform. And,
it's in black. So I'm wondering if you refer to headline fonts (Verdana,
colour) or perhaps the sidebars which might be blue, or italic, or even in
    Times Roman.

I appreciate your feedback and will seriously consider any suggestions. I'd
rather have a result that's pleasing to the eye of a human than conform to a
rule in a book. And... now you've earned a drink, on me, if you ever make it
    to Pender Harbour.

Everything is flowing in the graphics nice colours soft edges inviting
images, I just found the text a lttle staight rigid and the harshness of
white and black in contrast to the side bar, banner and the graphics too
stark, even italics would soften it a lttle, or if you could make the
headings currently bold, grey the same as the weather graphic it would fit
in with the images etc, having said all that I could not design such a site,
maybe Sheila could put it in better context than my attempt.
    Hope this makes sense

Actually, I think the body text is FINE. I would not suggest using italic as
it's considered harder to read and should only be used where italic is
called for to convey a book title, etc. Design is mostly a very subjective
thing so I tend never to respond to these requests for evaluation beyond how
things are organized or if something isn't working at all. Everything seems
to be well organized and easy to use. I don't know what stage of
development you're in but your Advertise link in the sidebar doesn't work.
Design-wise, I would personally get rid of the animated flag. I think it's
tacky and looks amateurish. But that's just me. I would definitely loose the
HOME label in the banner. I rarely, if ever, use the NOF option for labeling
banners. Either I make unique banners or just don't have them labeled there
at all. What you've done with your dropdown menus and animation of photos is
unique. Still trying to decide if it works for me or not.

Just my thoughts since Mike asked. Sorry it's not more helpful.

You need to check the site in Firefox. Home page... last paragraph...
text gets truncated. A few other weirds things, too.

Thanks, Sheila; from reading other posts you've made here, I respect your
    opinion.

    - The black-on-white, I decided, was best for bodycopy because there is
quite a volume of text and I wanted to accomplish maximum ease of reading.
    - Thanks for the heads-up on the Advertise link (it was pointing to a page
that got removed). Note to self: finalize layout first, then stop messing
    with it.
    - I needed to bluntly hear your view on the flag. I hate dancing bunnies, I
hate animated gifs, I know better. But I have an illogical fondness for this
silly little flag and placed it in spite of my better judgement. It's like a
really, really ugly sweater that becomes a favourite even though it makes
the wearer look terrible (come to think of it, I have one of those too).
    - Re "Home" as a banner label. Here's another example of doing something
    without thinking it through. Thanks.
    - Thanks for your comment on the menus; I always take "unique" as a
compliment :-) However, I'm still not satisifed with the idea. On some pages
it works well, on others, not so well. Also thinking of dropping the Wipes
and Irises to show the photos.

Again, thanks so much, and hopefully you'll make it to Pender Harbour to let
me buy you a drink some day.
