    Hi Micah -

Nice site - I particularly like the correlation between the red of the
apples & the red shaded buttons.

re: how text renders in banners. I think Mike was talking about the way the
text looks as produced by NOF - the "dots" in the shading/shadowing around
the letters kinda clashes with the nice pastoral picture it's on.

In case you couldn't tell, I agree with him <g>. Maybe play a bit with
flatter text so it looks a little cleaner? I've found that having no 3d
    effects produces nicer looking text.

About your family site (hey there was a link to it!). Do people really
still need to be educated about how organic farming both creates
better/healthier food & protects the environment? But then, I guess there
are still those that think hamburger comes in styrofoam containers straight
from the cow.... Here in Vermont, many visitors come believing that maple
syrup is simply produced by drilling a hole in a maple tree & letting the
sap run out into the container (no - it takes 40-50 gallons of sap to boil
it down to 1 gal. of syrup).

So - after rambling, I guess I answered my own question!

    Hi Micah

I think that it looks really good, and very interesting and makes me want to
    explore the site.

From my point of view, I wonder if using a non serif face for your body type
would look much 'cleaner' for this site. Verdana usually looks good. I
would also not underline any of the headings as I think it makes it harder
to read and also can make it appear to be a 'link'. But we are down to
    personal choice here.

I agree that the rendering on the banner text degrades what
is otherwise a very nice site. That text really needs to be
    anti-aliased against the image.

My very first impression was a nice clean look but there is a mix of font
sizes and styles. Also looking at the code there are areas where you are
using pt when you should use px or em. PT is for print work not screen
fonts. Look at the fonts when rendered by different browsers such as Opera,
Firefox and IE. I have found that relative looks different but ems seem to
stay steady across the browser as well as most px. Just my opinion

To answer your question, YES! Sadly, they do need to be educated about
organics. It is amazing how many people really, truly think that milk comes
from the store, they never really think it comes from a cow, they have no
    idea of the process. Crazy!
I could not get any of the fonts to look any better...

I put all the text to px across the entire site, so that should be better.
Thanks for all the help, guys, I am glad to get it. Keep sending it through
as long as you want. <g>

I fixed the underlined text, you are right, though I sometimes forget I am
working on a website, and underline the headings. <g>

I think you need to generate each banner yoursef by adding the text with
    photoshop or similar.

Wow, kid, have you ever improved your web-design skills in the short time
that I've been hanging around this newsgroup!
I will have to spend a lot more time looking at details before I can come up
with some constructive criticism (that's a compliment, in case you didn't
    get it).

    Later...
