I prefer to use the NOF MasterBorders, because it is pretty hard to get all
the banner, etc in the same spot on every page. And if there are 50+ pages
in a site, it can get pretty hard, I have done it several times.

As other posts in the discussion indicate, you've figured it
out. AAing text against the background has to be done in a
    graphics editor.

My personal preference is Xara Xtreme. I set up the
background on its own layer. Put a text string on another
layer, position it where I want it relative to the
background, and add any effects such as dropshadows. When
I've got it the way I want it, I can duplicate the text
layer as necessary and just change the text in the string.
(Xtreme has an option that automatically makes the selected
layer visible and editable. If you've already turned off
visibility on everything but the background, you don't have
to fiddle with turning things on and off.) Then, it takes
only a second or two per string to export the text images
that are now AAed to the background.

I agree that it's much nicer to use NOF's automated banners,
but not at the expense of the website's appearance.

Micah's family are not taking the easiest, or the most profitable road, but
certainly they are a stellar example to agriculture businesses everywhere.
Yes, thanks to them, and wishes for good weather and great production!
