    Hello,

I have update #3 and still running painfully slow. When I installed #3 it
did not mention any speed enhancements so I presume the NetObjects people
are aware of it but just ignoring it.

I copied about 20 pages of text into page and took me best p[art of a day to
format it. Everyone else in the programming world can get basic formatting
working, these guys are taking the *&*^%$.

I can't believe it's legal to sell something this unusable. Do you guys in
US have fair trading people? I'm going to write them. Also, can a few others
with same issue add their comments here so I have a few comments to back up
    my position.

Yes, I am ticked off, I can't believe the NO people would put something on
    the marketing like this.

    And it's update #3.

    Regards
    Jeff

    Jeff,

Have you tried to build a blank site and pull in 'some' of your content to
see if it is just your .nod?
    -
Did you try verifying assets and reoptimise your site?

Hi Jeff, I have that same problem and it is driving me nuts. Interestingly,
I only noticed it once I had installed Update 3. Since then have uninstalled
everything and reinstalled original app, but still sickenly sloooooow.
I suspected it is the size of the site (no of pages) but creating a new
1-pager did nothing to eliminate it.

    Hi BertNOthers,

NOTE: (can someone in support forward this to management)

    Yes I have done that.

I am only trying to do simple text formatting. If I hit the carriage return
10 times I have to go make a coffee. The is not floating point calculation
or running payroll, it simple text formatting. Its not even formatting, its
hitting the carriage return 10 times.

I can understand hicups with new release but this is update #3. If this
program was written properly (modular) the formatting function would be on
par with notepad or a very basic RFT application.

Going by the way the formatting is performing I can only image the
NetObjects code has gotten severely out of hand (spaghetti) and no one their
can fix it. And I can only further image that management is either in denial
or they reckon its only good for a couple of more releases before it reaches
its used-by-date and they don't think its worth going back and fixing it.

Look... Bill Gates cops some flack at times but can you images him releasing
MS word if it performed like this, its crazy.

Come on, sorry to be cynical (if indeed I am) but I am a realist and don't
like having the *&09 taken out of me:-) I'm in shock that this was released.

P.S. The above is based on my experience of NetObject 10 update #3 on my
machine after having copied about 20 page of text into single page site.

    Regards
    Jeff

From my experience with v10 and what I've seen here in the
forum, I would guess that the speed issue is something that
affects some users and not others. While v10 is a bit slower
for me than v9 was, it's only a bit. Issues with speed as
you describe affected many more users in the initial
release, but patch 1 cleared that up.

Perhaps you need to reinstall and apply the patches in
sequence. I know they're supposed to be cumulative, but
something may gotten lost between patch 1 and patch 3. (I
work for a software company. A big part of our quality
control testing focuses on trying to ensure that a fix
    doesn't break a previous fix. It ain't easy. ;-) )

    Jeff,
Your nod file is probably corrupted. Open a new blank site. Draw a text
box on the page and start typing some text. If this is painfully slow, then
I agree you have a problem. If however you can work in the new nod file
then you know the problem isn't with the application but rather with the 20
pages of copied and pasted text. Probably some bad code from MS Word or
whatever application you are copying from.

    Hi Nancy,

Just created new blank site and added text box, the copied about 20 line of
text into it. I then copied it a further 15 times.

    It as slow, very slow.

    You don't seem to realize.

This is not technique issues, the code is the problem.

As I said before, I can only image that management know this exists and
    can't or won't fix it.

    Regards
    Jeff

    Hi Allison,

Thanks for suggestion. I installed updates in correct order and don't think
    reinstalling will
    fix the bad code.

I think I may have to cut my costs and get Dream Weaver. Can anyone offer
    feedback on DreamWeaver ?

Net Object's is meant to be fast at creating web sites. I have spent 2 days
and have nothing to show for it.

    Let me ask you this.
Why have NetObjects management/support not posted a message about this
    obvious issue?

    Regards
    Jeff
