Thread: Running VERY (painfully) slow

This 'slow text ' problem is real but sporadic - and I've done a lot of
sites in NOF 7 > 10. I have a site in 7.5 that demonstrates this - it was
built from scratch, no MS Word or anything else. The problem has
occasionally raised its head in 9 and 10. I am one of those users who did
*not* suffer the general slowness in 10, but the 'type a character, wait a
second' problem can still arise from seemingly nowhere.

I still have the 7.5 template if support wants it to play with. (I offered
it months ago) I don't need it fixing - the site's long gone!

    Jeff,

How many fonts do you have installed on your system?

This can be a contributing factor.

    Hi,

As a test I just "Convert Table To Layout Region" and text formatting is
    fast.

Convert layout back to table and text formatting is is slow.

So proplems looks like its to do with the Table.

Can someone please send this email to devopers.

NOTE: I have many rows in the table page I am using so can't work as layout
    region and text boxes.

    Regards
    Jeff

To many font will slow down things when you load Windows or Desktop
applications but I certainly hope it cant slow down NetObjects.

    Further to last.

It not just the text formatting that slows down, it all operations related
to table. i.e. changing border, cell space.

I have been following the thread and experimenting. I noticed that the
longer F10 is open, the slower it gets (on my PC, even with Core2 Duo & 2G
DDR2). Shutting it down and starting again, speed is back up to sensible.
Can others try this and reply what happens? (It's related to the amount of
work you are doing, so don't just open it and let it sit!)

Before you buy DW, spend time learning html & CSS coding first. Then and
only then will DW make sense. Several on-line tutorials to help you get

The only time I've ever had problems with text crashing is when I pasted
text from Word or OpenOffice. I always paste as "Unformatted Text" now and
    then format it in NOF.

Make sure you regularly optimise your NOD file, delete unused assets, verify
files, etc. Also sites with 200 or more usually start to have problems. In
that respect you can split your site into multiple NOD files - there's a
post on these forums somewhere with a link if you do a search.

This will hopefully keep your site working fast in NOF.
