Could anyone tell me what would be the best way to add pictures to my site
that will upload quickly. the pages I'm making are mostly big pictures. I
have a comic book I would like to publish it has 77 pages, all pages have
been scanned and the originals have been optimized for the web where do I go
    from here.

    Help please

    Denise,

Personally, I'd make a PDF file and let people download it.

"big pictues" and "upload quickly" are an oxymoron.

If you really want to have the pages on web pages, you could do thumbnails
on a web page that someone could click on to open the full size version.

You could try using the Flash photo gallery in Fusion.

You're done.... assuming you have optimized as much as you can. With
JPG compression, there are many degrees you can choose from and the
choice is a subjective decision that you must make. My approach is to
squeeze it until it hurts... and then back off just a little bit. What
are the dimensions of the pics (in pixels) and what are the filesizes?
Can you show us an example?

I did squeeze as much as I could I want folks to beable to read it and I
find there are some pages including this one that there are areas that are
    hard to read.

Here is an example of what I have done the attachment includes a thumbnail
    and the big picture.

    Thanks Denise

I was able to reduce it from 170k to about 115k without much degradation
in image quality... and that might be small enough for you... but you
are correct that the image would need to be large in order to be read.
    Have you tried Chuck's idea?

I've done a few comics before. First, I would remove staples from spine for
scanning or leave the book open. The fold line doesn't look good. I ended
up slicing or cropping pages in Photoshop because full page images were too
big and not quite readable on high res displays. So instead of 1 big image,
I had 2 or 3 per page. Optimize for web as gif or jpg. Sometimes gif is
better. It all depends on the illustration.

Jim nice artwork looks like the Big yin, anyway I have to present training
and information booklets for clients and I use a digital book from Desktop
author, its brilliant, you can password it, time of use can be set by date,
it can be deteched and saved by people if they want to veiw it off line,
lots of E magazine use this and similar packages, as well as large
companies, here is a version I set up a while ago, which is a bit limited
but it gives you the idea.
