Default How to create a background in MasterBorder -- please help

I am developing a website with a blue background (prototype at
www.nashcanspas.bizsolver.com). The Layout Area is filled with a text box
with a white background, which covers the site background. Banner and
footer are working fine. How do I make the area under the navigation
buttons white, all the way to the footer?

I tried placing a box under the menu bar, but I can't get it to line up
    properly on each page.

You could make a layout area there, and then put the nav bar in the layout,
and then make the layout white.

Or, you could make a two-toned page background like the one in this
    tutorial.

    Micah,

Thanks, but using a layout region didn't work any better than a text box.
It just gave me another box to resize on each page.

    Michael,

As you are discovering there are several ways to approach this design
problem. If I understand what you are trying to do, I have had success
making the layout area a 1x1 table cell with a layout region inside it. This
allows a colored background, a border, and will resize itself when the
content changes. I would need to know some more specifics to know whether
this would work for what you're doing (or maybe by now you have your own
    workable solution).

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for pitching in. What I have is a dark background with a 960 wide,
centered site. The banner and footer fill the full 960 px. The Layout has
a white background with dark text. I have a button navbar occupying 160 px
on the left. I want to fill the area under the navbar with white and line
it up with the layout area so that it meets the footer.

First I tried inserting a text box with a white background under the navbar.
I lined up the box under the navbar with the layout area text box perfectly,
but it never lined up in page preview or site preview. Based on your
suggestion I tried placing the navbar and layout text in tables and layout
regions, but I alway got the same result: The boxes did not line up at the
    footer.

Thanks Nancy, that worked. I'm not really sure how it works, but your
tutorial was clear enough that I got through it. You're the best!
