templates -- ugh
earlier today i lost 5 hrs of work :-( -- after a long break in webdesign -
2 1/2 yrs - i'm back working w NOF10. last one i used was 7.5. my design
style is free form, and that has worked fine in NOF7.5 and MX. -- i think
the variety of changes i made and resizing of photos on one (the last) page
caused the program to totally erase what i had done... but then, if it is
all possible, why can opne not do it?
i am rather confused now.
all i want is some basic webdesign, use a variety of fonts, colors and
backgrounds that i like....
>>>>> how can i get rid of the template? supposedly you can make up your own
>>>>> style.
i don't even use buttons or fly-outs or any of the gaudy stuff - just don't
find it necessary. so, please, anyone, let me know ho0w i can get creative
in NOF10 without a template.
TIA

Re: templates -- ugh
Hi Sabine
One thing I've found is to export to a template regularly and also removed
unused assets, just to be safe - sometimes I had a ton of unused images and
objects, and it's crashed NOF.
I find alot of the time simple is best, and doing more and more with
AllWebMenus Pro (http://www.likno.com) for good fast DHTML/CSS naviagation
and also EZRound (http://www.ezround.com) to create nice containers for the
site content.
To get rid of the template in the site I would usally save it as a new NOD
site, then disasemble things form that, just leaving the bare content. If
you click on the Styles button on the main Toolbar, you can create new
style there, and set all of the different elements for that style. It's best
usually to set 1 background and style for a site, otherwise people can get
confused with where they are, as far as I've gleaned.
There's lots of stock photos you can use for creativity as well, from sites
like www.sxc.hu, www.morgurefile.com. etc

hello Carl, this is a brand new installation and my first day working w
nof10 (used nof7.5 for this: calkinsart.net and other sites). the update i'm
working on for calkinsart is an image heavy site, since it shows my
husband's artwork. i had a thumbnail page w 33 thumbs and 7 pages w 4 large
jpgs each -- then it crashed, killed the sitestyle.... i just saved the
thumbnail page to my computer, still had it in the local browser. i am also
discussing this in the webdesign forum.... w some more info.
> I find alot of the time simple is best,
i agree!! but adding new software looks like making it more difficult......
? is it integrated into NOF?
thanks for your advice re: bare bones pages, i'll look into that!! sabine
