    Default Text Font now missing

    Hi,
I have just redesigned my website and set the banner and button text fonts
to Tall Paul and uploaded my site. Everything was working ok and the site
was up loaded and has been live for a week or so. Today I had to make a few
page changes and on re opening the site the text font has changed and I no
longer have the option of Tall Paul as a text font.

    Please help.

Tall Paul is not a standard font that everyone will have. The only fonts
that are available to display text in a website are the fonts resident
on the viewer's machine. If your viewer doesn't have Tall Paul (and very
few people will), then the browser will use some other font.

If you want to use Tall Paul in your site, you need to create the text
in a graphics program and save it as a gif, png or jpg image, then use
the image rather than text in those areas of your page where you want
the font to appear. It's best to use decorative fonts only in banners,
navbars and the occasional image. Use a standard font such as Arial,
Times, Tahoma or Verdana for your text. It will be easier for people to
read, and you won't have the disappearing font problem.

    Good morning,

Thanks for all your help and advice. I had a email response from NOF support
explaining that I could not have used "Tall Paul" text font in Nof and how
did I manage it. I have know idea and am awaiting a response back.
I am only using his font on banners and buttons as suggested and have kept
to a standard font type for the rest of the text on the site. Late last
night I was in the process of making some new banners and buttons in
Photoshop when the option of using this font in Photoshop appeared again. I
started up NOF and to my surprise the "Tall Paul" font was available again.
    Can any one explain this?
I re published my site asap and it now has the "Tall Paul" font in the
banners and buttons. (well at least on the two computers I have checked it
    on).
Am I right in thinking that as NOF generates banners and buttons as gif
images this will be the same as me creating a image in Photoshop and using
it. In other words the banner images can not be changed unlike the text on a
    website?

Please have a look and let me know. The site is www.scottramsey.co.uk .

    Regards,
    Scott.

You can use whatever font you like in your banners and buttons -
    they're generated as images.

I suspect it's more an OS issue than NOF. For some reason on one
occasion Windows (or whatever OS you use) has failed to recognise the
presence of your Tall Paul font.

Scott, do you mind a couple of comments about your site?

It's very wide - when I look at I have a lot of blank black space on
the left and a lot of the content is off the screen to the right.

Secondly, I found it difficult to find your contact details.

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for confirming that. Currently NOF support is still saying that using
Tall Paul is not possible in NOF 10 so I guess this is something of a new
problem they have not come across before.

No not at all any comments are always welcome.
Yes I must admit I could not decide on the page size and kept getting
conflicting info on suggested page sizes due to everybody having different
monitor sizes now. At the end of the day as you can see from the site so far
is that I want my pictures do all the talking for me and be big and bold
(abit like a full page pic in a glossy mag).
Is there a easy way for me to set the page to fit any web browser/monitor
size? So the look I want will stay the same for anybody who views it.

Yes I agree. I have had a little problem as the contact details link should
appear on all second pages into the site however the imported jalbum seems
to knock the link off the bottom of the page.
The link's appear ok on this page
    http://www.scottramsey.co.uk/html/we...es___info.html .
And yet not on this page http://www.scottramsey.co.uk/html/wedding.html
Both pages have the same layout and master border settings.

Any help would be appreciated as after many late nights trying to sort it
all out its bugging me ....and I'm nearly out of beer.

    Regards,
    Scott

This is getting off topic. But page size is all relative. Decide who your
target audience is and build your sites accordingly. Google Analytics is
free and it gives excellent stats re: screen resolution, OS, browsers and
other good stuff. However, screen res tells only half the story because
many people with wider displays do not keep their screens maximized. So
it's the viewport size that you need to consider. And viewport can be
anything. The best page width is one that fits in the center of the screen
without excessive vertical scrolling. For modern desktop/laptops, this is
usually somewhere between 770px (low res) up to 1260px (high res).
