    Ted,

the margins are clear to me and I don't have an issue with the id="..." but
all the other seem to have no effect, right? Is it possible that the
NOF=".." type attributes are used for the html view? I don't think, but if
they are used only in the preview code and not for the final code. I am
asking because in one of my components i am removing that garbage via reg
expressions in the publish method. So far everything seems to be ok.
Anyway, it's kind of funny that NOF not even follows its own prefs
generating some of them in caps and some not. Makes the reg expression a
    little bit more complicated.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The vast majority of the 'nofs' are irrelevant. I've assumed that they
are in there as some sort of checksum against the generator. Does any
one really know, even at WSP?

The ones which have an effect are on the <body> line refereing to
margin. They are however all non standard and could {should}be replaced
by suitable entires in the css file for the site. If you use the
javascript, dhtml menu function then there's at least one you will need
if the menu had child elements. That's on the table id for 'navigation'.
You don't (at least in 8) I've not bought 9 and probably won't at this
stage, the nof style sheet reference though you do need to keep the
    <nolayer> statement.

    Regards
    Ted

Does anybody know what the NOF specific attributes e.g. <body NOF="...">,
etc. within the generated HTML are used for?

I can't see any reason why they put this stuff into the code anyhow? Are
they using the attributes in some of the NavBar Javascript? Is it used in
    action code?

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Agree with your points. I've never been able to ascertain their value
within the finished {i.e. Local publish or Remote Publish] environment,
as you say maybe with 'preview' but since nof uses the explorer engine
to render I don't see why. It'll be interesting to see if anyone can
opine as to why they are there,. Given your understanding of the API,
which I've never bothered with in nof {unlike other platforms}, that
was one of my ideas for usage.

The capitalisation is an interesting point, it has led me to assume,
over time, that these elements were added over time and serve a useful
purpose from the debugging or management of the html generation. What is
revealing is to look at the new netobjects site and see the <CENTER>
element in capitals but no align="center' in the body tag.

The position is that, in my experience, with the exception of the menu
item I noted earlier they are all redundant. However, like menus, there
may be others required if you use specific nof processes to generate
    areas of\ of the site.

    Ted
