Re: NF9 in stores yet?
Peter,
9.0 has a boxed version but is available through the web store only.
Regarding the retail outlets: no plans for current version.

Re: NF9 in stores yet?
Hi Deb, I'm with you on this! Totally hate FP and always have, but many
seem to have latched on to this love/hate relationship with it b/c it is
bundled with Office and it's widely supported.
On the other hand, I went into CompUSA the other day and found very few
software titles on the wall. Mostly OS, Norton, Office, Turbo tax and other
stuff you wouldn't much want on your box unless you are new to computing.
Therefore, I think this trend is not exclusive to NOF. Much cheaper to
sell on Amazon, et al. I can't even remember the last time I bought
software in a box at a store. In fact, I sort of resent all the useless
packaging from a decade ago that I have no room for. I get everything now by
download or CD in the mail. Saves the trees, too.
Happy holidays.

Re: NF9 in stores yet?
Well no wonder MS FrontPage is more popular. Mind you I hate FP and have had
many people want me to do their sites in it. So far I have refused and they
continue to struggle with their sites. I will say this though at least you can
do collaboration in FP98 (the only way to make it behave).
You guys are really missing the marketing/sales boat on this one. The long term
return would be worth it IF there are third party components. I did some
searches and there are so many things available for FP and DW yet next to
nothing for NOF. No wonder everyone is switching to DW if they can afford it.
I've even toyed with downloading a trial version of FP to see where it's at
now.
DW is on my wish list for 2006 even though I just upgraded to NOF9 due to the
lack of third party components. I was all set to join Club Coolmaps until I
found out they may not update components to NOF9.
My take is NOF is going the way WordPerfect did years ago. WP had the market
sewn up (government and most businesses) as the standard. However, they didn't
keep up with the market and MS Word left them in the dust. I'm not a Word fan
but stick with it as it's now pretty much the standard for most people and
companies even though I loved WP. (I do technical writing also at work since
I'm about the only one that knows how to tame Word.)
Off my soapbox now as I'm sure your company has been told this by many others.
I sincerely hope NOF does not go the way of WordPerfect it would be another big
loss to loyal users and fans of NOF.

Sounds about right. :-) The software shelves at Staples and
Office Depot are similarly bare.
Plus, the software "advice" I've gotten from CompUSA staff
has been universally poor and ill-informed. Moreover, if it
isn't sitting right in front of them, they can't remember
ever having seen it. If it is right in front of them, they
only notice it if it's the most popular name.
I've jumped through hoops trying to buy NOF via CompUSA when
CompUSA insisted that they were selling it and that it was
in stock. Gave up and went back to purchasing from a source
I can count on.
