Thread: Anyone know of any conflicts between NOF and MS Visual Studio 2005?

I wasn't talking about manually unzipping. I was talking about manually
    closing the unzip window.

In your screenshots, something that caught my attention is the big Norton in
    the lower right corner.

Try disabling anything Norton and see if things start working.

It's been known to block things you'd never think it would block. It's an
    extremely intrusuve product.

    Hey Chuck,
Disabling Norton was one other of the first things I did. No result. The NOF
problem occurred before I installed this new Norton's. That's one of the
reason's I went and bought it, thinking it could find any registry errors or
conflicts. It and several other registry checkers say everything's OK. I
know its intrusive but it does check and protect well.

Did that over 8 times. Got every registry scrubber I could find to get rid
of any residue or leftover reg items. Even went into reg edit to manually
delete all leftover NOF registry. Reinstalled and same problem occured every
    time.

As for the J# issue. I've uninstalled it, reinstalled and uninstinalled,
MSVS 05 won't work properly without it. I think what would be helpful if we
knew at least how some of NOF's core code was written and determining from
there if any conflicts would occur with drivers, switches or whatever else.
I know of no software that can detect conflicts of this nature, it would
have to come from NOF's software engineers.

    It's puzzling... that's for sure!

    Try it yourself.

I've already documented my many attempts with different machines and that is the
only thing that I've been able to find.

Three different OS's [2002/2005 media editon, XP Pro]
    On a domain
    Not on a domain
Three different processors [AMD XP, AMD 64, Intel 3.2]
    NET 2003 by itself
    NET 2003 with .NET 2005
    NET 2005 by itself

The same thing happens even with a totally clean install
    If I don't install J#, it works. If I do install J#, it doesn't

I've heard this before and it's simply not true. Tried too many times on too
many boxes for it to be a problem with one person's system. I have also heard
from too many people with the same issues.

Note: I didn't notice a problem with versions of .NET prior to 2003 but 2003 and
2005 J# seems to tank NOF.

No Problems here with J# and NOF 8 or 9.

There is something else amiss with gw's system.
I know running the .net version 2 beta is a disaster
with anything VS 2005 and could also interfere with
NOF "if" VS 2005 happens to get installed on top of
    ..net 2.0 beta.

I would advise GW to uninstall version 9 and remove any
registry enteries for NOF 9 that are left over. Then reinstall.

There is also a nice registry app I use to help remove
any left over orphan settings after an uninstall.

After a lot of testing, I have found out that J# is totally incompatible with
NOF. Doesn't matter if it is .net 2003 or 2005

There are VS users who would disagree with you. (I don't use VS these days,
but know other Fusion users who do)

There does seem to be a issue on some installations, but not all.
