Default Is upgrading to NOF9 worth the money?

    Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading to NOF9. But I don't know if the new features
are worth the trouble of switching to new version. I've read the NOF9
website but the Infos are much too short.

So, what are your experiences with:

    - build in Flash for banners and navigation? Can I really program
fully-fledged Flash sites (icnluding action script) without the heavy
    macromedia flash package?

    - Google search? What is better about this search component compared to
    the old one?

    - Secure Site? Ok, it looks nice and simple to use. Any other ideas?

    - improved CSS functionality? How does it work?

    - version control? Does it work?

    - database display control with CSS?

    - nPower? Is a CMS (Typo3, Mambo/Joomla) dispensable?

Thanks for your help and answers :-)

    Hi Frieder,
Take a look at the NOF 9 User Guide which describes how things work in
    greater detail.
It's a PDF file for Acrobat Reader:
    http://www.netobjects.com/support/ht...mentation.html

Also, if you read through some of the posts on this newsgroup, you will see
that most folks are happy with the upgrade despite a few bugs and security
issues. Ultimately, you must decide if these added features are things you
need and will use. It may be worth the money for some but not for others.

    Hi, Frieder,

Just checking. Did you realize that Fusion 9 is now in German and that
there's excellent Fusion support at NOF Club Deutschland? www.nof-club.de
Werner or Petra will be able to tell you everything you need in German if
    you'd prefer that.

Fusion 9 has a number of interesting changes which are worth investigating,
my favorite being increased CSS support, but I myself always prefer to 'test
drive' a product with a trial and WSP has not yet released an NOF trial,
though they will, hopefully, soon - although there are still a few bugs
    being worked out.

Sorry, LWD, but your two friends at nof-club want 50 Euro for a
1-year-membership before using their forum. This is half the price of
the NOF9-upgrade. Thanks for this advertisement but it doesn't help me.

Does anybody know of any free NOF9-forums?

    Hi Nancy,

in the full NOF9 documentation with its 600+ pages the new features
aren't explained. Even in the shorter beginners documentation is no
mentioning of the new features. I only found a flyer with some marketing
    text about the new functions.

    Hi, Frieder,

Well, I'm not a member of NOF Club so I didn't know what their forum costs,
just thought it might be of interest. Werner and Petra are active members
of the beta group and on top of all Fusion 9 changes, bugs, etc. - plus they
hold monthly meetings of Fusion users in Germany.

This is a free NOF9 Forum and if you read through the posts, there are a
number of sites which will tell you about Fusion 9.

Here are several lists of Fusion resources:

    http://fusionuser.com/html/thirdparties.html

    http://www.beyondfusion.com/html/resources.php (look at 'Fusion Information
    halfway down on the right)

Sorry, LWD, but your two friends at nof-club want 50 Euro for a
1-year-membership before using their forum. This is more than half the
price of the NOF9-upgrade (90 Euro). Thanks for this nof-club
advertisement but it doesn't help me.

Thanks for posting that link, Nancy.

I had not realized that there is now a searchable online Fusion 9 User
    Guide:
http://netobjects.com/en/nof/9/00/docs/help/whnjs.htm This is a very good
    move on WSP's part.

Additionally, clicking on that link also sends you to an area with online
tutorials on the advanced components, e.g., testimonials, forms, the
    guestbook component, RSS feeds, etc.

For anyone who has not gone through it at least once, the 'Getting Started'
PDF file (also available for earlier Fusion versions) really works for new
users trying to get an overview.
