    Default Re: NOF9 backup "feature"

Thanks, Laurence. I even go further by setting the automatic backup function
to NOT Automatic. If I have a crash or something I tried but too far along
to easily go back, or a bug, I don't want NOF to automatically save on the
    way out.

Another thing I have done in past versions, when the opening message pops up
saying that the previous site was unstable and will now be restored>OK, I
open explorer at that point and look at the date of the backups, because if
only older backups are there, I have lost a large part of my work efforts.
After moving the backups to my desktop where NOF can't find them, the site
restores just fine, like it was a routine not a necessity, and I don't lose
    my work.

Does anyone else have similar problems?

    Default NOF9 backup "feature"

I just noticed a new "feature" in NOF9 that I had seen earlier but I
hadn't been fully aware of the consequences of it. I normally keep 10
backups of all sites... and I've modified my blank.zip template so that
all new sites start out with that as the default setting. (I keep
multiple templates and hard drive backups, too. Better safe than
sorry.) But I just realized that NOF9, unlike previous versions, has a
setting that determines how much Space will be devoted to backups... in
additional to the traditional setting for the Number of backups... and,
as it turns out, Space takes precedence over Number. So even if all of
your imported sites are set to keep 10 Backups, the NOF9 default setting
of 10MB of Space will overrride the Nmber of backups. The result is
that for many of your sites, you only have one backup eventhough you
have think you have more. If you want to keep multiple backups, you
need to go into each of your NOF9 sites and change the Space setting to
a larger number. (I don't recall the Space setting being on anyone's
Wish List... although removing it might be on mine!)
