Default Re: JAlbum inside an I Frame

    Hi, Bert,

Well, I think of JAlbum as 'geek software'.

What this means to me is that it's not for beginners who don't want to have
to deal with code. If this doesn't bother you, however, you can configure
it in amazing ways. I also don't feel they make their own case very well.
Some of the sample examples show are just plain terrible and amateurish and
you think, hey, I don't want to have anything to do with *that*. But if you
look through the forums or keep looking at the demos, you'll find people who
use it very imaginatively. You can change the backgrounds, change the
arrows, change where text appears, change the fonts, etc.

I usually just use JAlbum's BananAlbum skin myself - though the wonderful
thing about the program is that, if I want to use another skin, I just say,
okay, I'll use the 'x' skin today and run the program through that. I use
Bananalbum because it presents the photos as I'd like to see them and I
often have to get up large galleries in a hurry, but there are fancier ways
to show photographs using JAlbum and if I didn't have to show the volume of
images I do, I might consider them. Also, a Flash-based album defeats
'right-click image thieves' although, as often discussed in here, the only
true protection such as it is is with watermarking, and JAlbum lets me do
    that easily (for *any* skin).

    Oh, JAlbum's URL is

    http://jalbum.net/.

You can see sample albums here:
    http://jalbum.net/samples.jsp or here:
    http://jalbum.erica59.com/jalbum.html.

But there much better examples usually discussed in the forums:
    http://jalbum.net/forum/index.jspa

Here's an extreme example of watermarking to make my point (I know it's
    overdone, could be much simpler):
    http://www.lwdgrfx.com/NeshobaCF2004/

Anyone trying to steal those images still could with a screen capture but
would have a *lot* of work erasing those watermarks. My best examples for
the wisdom of watermarks can be seen at http://www.magnumphotos.com. If the
top photo agency of the world feels it's safe enough to put images on the
web as long as they're watermarked (and small and low resolution), I feel
    that's a good enough recommendation.

    Lucian

    Thanks Lucian,

I have used iframes, and just linked to them as well. I have also used a
program (flash) that produces flash galleries, and I put it in an iframe, it
worked well for what the client wanted to achieve, but does not work well
with some other sites I tried it on.

    Thanks Chuck,

The 'shoot' went last night and another tonight. I am giving them some
teaser shots, as I opened mouth and inserted foot and mentioned I had
'better' way to let all the fans see the photos. LOL. As LWD has stated
below, I have used just about all the gallery making software out there,
i.e.. Coppermine, Gallery, NOF etc. I did look at jalbum in there
somewhere, but did not like it at first, but I am coming around now. I was
just taken back by your seamless example when using it to integrate in to a
NOF page. I did read LWD's post about AWM, and do not use it, but still
wonder how you went about it. Thanks for the reply.

Default JAlbum inside an I Frame

I take it back....the code's not easy to understand at all - because Chuck
(Mansfield Scouting) is using All Web Menus - AWM - which makes it a very
different story than if you're using straight HTML.

Here's a very simple implementation of JAlbum on an NOF page.

I just put it inside an I-Frame:

    http://www.lwdgrfx.com/JAlbumIFrame/

    There's a link on that page to Chuck (beyondFusion.com) Joslin's I-Frame
    generator.

There's also a link to that album by itself, i.e., as JAlbum generates it -
linking to the index page JAlbum generates.

    HTH,

    Lucian
