jeese that's one h*ll of a big site. I would have split it into several
parts by now. It could just be the size. Never tried anything that big in
one lump before. Hope someone else has a more constructive idea.

    Rob,

Hopefully you have a back up (or saved template) file from before you
"changed a couple of things". Seems like that last change triggered the
problem. I agree that the site has WAY too many pages.

First you've got to try and find a stable backup file to work with. Keep
looking. Start with NOF/User Sites/yoursite/Recovery folders for any
backups that will not crash. If you lose some changes, don't worry about
them. EXPORT SITE TO TEMPLATE immediately!

How you split it depends on the site structure and which areas you update
most often. A 1300 page static site is a very bad idea in NOF. I wouldn't
place more than 250 pages per nod file but some people have gone as high as
    500 pages without a problem.

Ultimately, you might want to rebuild your site using a dynamic approach
with scripts and databases instead of static html pages.

    Hi

I have found an old backup which I am now ammending before saving as
    template - thanks.

So, if I decide to split it, how would I do this please?

    Thanks again.

A workable Backup, Eureka! I hope it doesn't crash on you before you get
    that template made.

Without knowing anything about your site I can only offer generalizations on
how to split a big nod file.

Let's say you offer wine tasting tours in Europe with tours in France,
Portugal, Spain and Germany. The logical way to split your site would be
into 4 or 5 general areas.

NOD 1 -- General Info pages
NOD 2 -- Tours in France
NOD 3 -- Tours in Portugal
NOD 4 -- Tours in Spain
NOD 5 -- Tours in Germany

Make 5 new sites based on your template and then name each one according to
content. Remove links to unwanted pages in this nod and delete pages from
the nod file until you have maybe 250 pages max. Remove unused assets and
master borders. Export as Template for NOD1. Repeat for all other NOD
    files.

To link site and subsite pages, you will use both internal and external
links on all your pages. Thus NOD 1 would have links to internal pages and
the external index pages to NODs 2 - 5 and vise versa.

Highly recommend working it out on paper before you start slicing and dicing
your site. It makes it much easier to have a road map to follow the first
    time you do this.

Most important, Export everything to Templates and store them on remote
    server, CDs or external HD.

    Best of luck,

    Hi,

Thanks for the replies - the backup which I saved earlier today does the
same thing! The only changes I have made are adding a couple of html files
which were working fine...so, if it has too many pages, how can this be
    changed?!

    Thanks,

I have made a template now - does this then work independently, ie. does not
need the original files to work?

If I set up 4 or 5 different sites from this, how do I get them to do the
external links to the other files? Also, when uploading to the webserver do
I just upload them all to the same place...won't one overwrite the next etc?
