Audio file ??
I would like to add an audio file clip to a website that says a few quick
lines as a "personalization" technique however as visitors navigate to and
from the page it is set to load on, I do not want it to continue to load.
Basically, I want to set the file to load once per session per visitor and
that's it so it doesn't become an annoyance but I am unsure how this can be
done. Can it be done? I would really like some feedback if anyone has any
suggestions.
Thanks,
Mike D.

Re: Audio file ??
that is simple
don't use any built in player component, simply create a link to the file
then only when clicked, it will load

Re: Audio file ??
Wow Anton, fast response! Yes, I considered this as a option however I would
really prefer putting the message out there without any user intervention.
It would assure the message was heard and not overlooked or ignored. I will
consider this as an option but would rather control things via a session
cookie if possible.
Thanks!

Re: Audio file ??
You might try this. Embed a flash audio player into a frame instead of the
main page. Keep looping set to off or false and be sure to offer a button
to stop the dang thing. This might do what you want.

Re: Audio file ??
Nancy,
I see the idea behind putting a player with an off button but I'm confused
as to what difference there would be between just putting the player on the
page with controls and putting it in a frame. I must be overlooking the
obvious but would there be a benefit?
Thanks,
Mike D.

Re: Audio file ??
I was thinking you meant an iframe but I see I was wrong. Well, yes that
sounds like an option but I too am not a fan of framed pages and neither are
the search engines from what I've read. I am still looking for someone that
knows how to do this via a cookie as I do not know how it's done. Thanks
Nancy and Anton for your suggestions and if anyone knows how to do this via
a session cookie, I'd really like to hear from you.
Thanks,
Mike D.

Re: Audio file ??
If I'm not mistaken, a frame loads just one time. So if a user jumps to
other pages, the audio would complete and not repeat (if looping is off)
when user jumps back to main page.
I don't usually recommend frames but... this might provide the workaround
you want without using cookie JavaScript.
