Re: verifying site on google
Nancy's exactly right (as usual ;-). However - be aware that if you do it
this way & make a change to your page & republish, the Google stuff you
added outside of NOF will get overwritten. Since this is likely a one time
thing, that may not be an issue.

Lorraine,
Open your local published Index page in Notepad, insert the Google verify
code between the <head> tags. Save it. Upload to server with 3rd party ftp
app. Problem solved in 60 seconds.
<head>
Insert your Google Verify code here
</head>
NOTE: You should have only one set of <head> tags in your page.

Can someone please advise where to put the meta tag to verify my site?
Going mad here. I've tried every place I can think of but can't get the
right place for the meta tag to go
Last attempt was wrong - have no idea what to try next. SO grateful for
any help - have tried this before and gave up but really need to get this
working.
Thanks.

Do you have a URL I could look at?
NOF doesn't make working with the HTML terribly easy....

Click on a blank spot on the Master Border (near the top).
Click on the HTML button on the Properties Palette.
Then take a look at the attached.

Thanks for that Garret. I think I did try that before but I keep getting a
message saying 'not verified' 'it is the wrong place - it must be within the
first <head> section of the page'? I've put it between head tags as I think
your picture said. This html is very confusing! google don't seem to make it
very clear or is it NOF? more likely, just me! Any further thoughts.

Re: verifying site on google
Hi
Thanks everybody. I managed to sort the problem with your advice but I now
have a '<' at the top of the page for some reason and my logo is slightly
broken up on some of the horizontal menu links. Any idea what I've done
wrong? I can delete the pages with the broken logo and redo them but how do
I get rid of the '<'

Have a URL?
If you only have the pages locally, look where the < appears. For example,
if it is just to the left of a line of text, it means that there's an extra
< that the page thinks is part of the text.
Usually, the easiest way to find it is to view the page in a browser & then
"View Source" (in FireFox, that's the View Menu, then "Page Source") &
search for the errant <.
One guess: It was supposed to look like this in the code:
<head>
<Your line>
</head>
You might have:
<head
<Your line>>
</head>
Or something like that. Make sure the head & /head tags have the brackets
around them.
If you have a URL, I'll be happy to look

Nof allows you to insert between <head> and </head>
it always has, it is called between heads
or am I misunderstanding something?

A case where 2 heads is *not* better than one. <g>
Of course NOF does do it. Lorraine was having problems - so (I believe)
Nancy was just suggesting an alternative method.
