Nancy---thanks very much for your response---interesting possibilities. As
I had been updating the 2009 class schedule, I very well may have been
cutting and pasting from Word into NOF---thanks for that tip. Re assets: I
am an artist, and my sites are full of images, but not photo galleries, and
I painfully learned how limited and bizarre the catalog component is in NOF
a number of years ago, and closed that down and re-constructed the sites in
    a different fashion---yet another work-around.

When I went in today (with an expression of expectant terror on my face I am
sure), the lost pages were mostly there albeit some a bit skewey, but none
of the pages in the entire site had MB top or bottom, nor nav
bar/text.....so have been redoing all that stuff, and hope to get this site
    revision up today or tomorrow.

I confess to not backing up via the templates (or even save as---I am very
bad about that whole thing)---I suspect I will ck out the help files and get
    fluent in that procedure asap.

I really appreciate your assistance, and look forward to exploring theNOF
tutorials on your site----I can certainly stand to learn NOF better (and use
it more regularly in order to stay versed in it) and make friends or at
    least frenemies with it.

Sorry for your difficulties. Corrupted nod files have been known to wipe
out pages. Did you recently export your sites to Templates? I keep 3 or 4
Templates as backups in case my production site ever goes bad. Templates
have saved me more than I care to count.

Possible causes of corrupt nod files:
    --------------------------------------------------
    A bad MasterBorder.

Working in HTML view (don't ever do that).

Pasting Spurious code into the wrong HTML tabs.

Excessively large assets; too many photo galleries or shopping catalogs.

Copying & Pasting formatted text or tables from MS Office or other apps into
NOF. When copying & pasting use Edit > Paste > Special > Unformatted Text.
Set this to default paste setting.

    Default NOF deleting my pages

Hello---working in NOF9 yesterday, and moving from page to page making
changes etc. and all was well as it had been the day before. Then I created
a new page in site view, went to the page and I got a splash screen that
said something to the effect that there was a damaged file and NOF was
deleting it.....(at that point I was staring at a black background---no
master border etc.), when I tried to close out the splash screen, thru
clicking the x, it kept popping back up, same with closing via ok....finally
it closed and I had a black background --- which is correct, but it should
not be empty. Went into site view, deleted that page and recreated a new
page....same thing. The I opened a couple of other pages that have existed
for a long time, and one that I had just spent hours working on......same
message, same black background...ie empty pages. NOF is literally deleting
    my site page by page.

I have not ckd further, as I cannot lose more pages. This is a medium size
site, heavy with images (I'm an artist) www.barbettalockart.com . NOF9 has
always been a very buggy program, but I have learned how to work around its
numerous quirks/glitches.......this however is severe. I am effectively
unable to open this site in the program as it destroys every page if I open
it (and may have destroyed the entire site already, who knows).

I have another site created by NOF9 www.itsastudio.com , and am terrified to
open it (it needs to be worked on too and then republished as I was doing to
the other site), as I cannot lose that site as well. Upon ckg online for
problems with NOF9, I find some mention of lots of unexplained
freezes/crashes etc. and I concur---I have them also, esp if I am working on
imaging at the same time (NOF( hates Photoshop Elements), and a few mentions
of similar destruction of NOF9 sites by the program, but no fixes or steps
to take to stop this. My computer is a big one---lots of memory so it is
    not that.

I had downloaded the NOF9 update (that was suggested when I opened the
program) a day or so before, but used the program after that and all was
    ok.

I'd appreciate any help/suggestions. Thanks, Betta
