    Question

I thought I would comment here, rather than starting a new thread... There seems to be some inconsistency as to whether a post made on the forum shows up on the newsgroup.

I made a post to the thread on "Multi Layout Region colors" which does not show on the nttp/newsgroup, although other responses do.

Also, Beach Ape started a thread on "Rotating Picture and Text Align". His original thread-starting post doesn't show, but his follow-up response does.

Perhaps it is related to moderated status, and will work itself out, but it does leave some holes in the threads.

Here is my "assumption" on this.

The nntp newsgroup and online forum sync once every minute (60 seconds).

A new member on the online forum is moderated for the first 2 posts (so that they can catch spambots doing drive by posts)

If a new valid member starts or responds to an online forum topic and the post is not "approved" within the 60 second sync period it will not be made part of the nntp content as it does not exist on the forum until it is approved. After the 60 second sync period the post gets approved the original time stamp is used and the sync sees it as older than what it works with and moves on.

Once a new online forum member is validated (becomes not moderated) this will be a non issue.

Mike will have to confirm or correct my assumption on this one.

So if I reply on nntp does that post automatically get synched into the forum? Whereas if I reply in the forum, my posts have to be moderated? Curious...

So here's a test. I replied to this on the forum but, of course, my
post doesn't appear until it's moderated. So I wonder if this, posted
    via nntp, will appear?

Moderation is only for the first 2 posts which is done to catch drive by spam bot posts.

After you have made 2 posts nntp and the forum are identical

Well, I didn't get a chance to check out the test results because I got diverted to other things and forgot to check back (duh!) Also I realised I registered on the forums with a different persona that I did with the newsgroups, so they wouldn't synch anyway (duh! duh!)

    Oh well.....
