Default adding browse/attach file field to a form

Moving right along -- Thanks to Turtle and Allison, I'm making progress with
my file conversions away from QFM. However, a couple of my forms have a
field for visitors to brows their computers and attach a file to go along
with the form results via email. I had been using the Bitmotion File
Uploader, which will not be available after April 30. So how does one add
the visitor's ability to upload a file in the form itself? I've search a
couple NOF books and my past notes, but can't find it covered anywhere.
    Thanks in advance.

In the Form Tools toolbar, you'll find a tool for this. The Forms File Selector tool.

This wasn't around in earlier versions of Fusion back in the days when you probably started using QFM.

Allowing anonymous uploads (letting anyone upload anything) is not that good of an idea. 80% of the web sites that are hacked and defaced are done by letting anyone upload a package. Once they upload, it is unpacked and installed so that the hacker can take over the site to add/edit anything they wish.

Unfortunately this is the way it is and you need to take precautions against this happening if you feel you absolutely require the ability to let strangers upload things to your web site. You have to restrict the type of files that can be uploaded and it is best if you force the upload to a non accessible location (below root) so that they cannot be accessed by anyone who does not have root level ftp access.

    Aahh -- that's probably the problem -- I'm still using NOF7 and I don't
    believe it's there.

(I've been posting here because no one appeared to be visiting the NOF7
    group - but rarely.)

I don't want them to go to the site/server, but sent with the form results
to an email address. Have done this with QFM for years with no apparent
problem. If it is a problem to do this without QFM or the later form tools
in NOF, I can simply put an email link on the form(?) or page with
directions to email the file. It is for people to send files for
    editing/proofreading, etc

(I do have NOF11 -- just have not had time to go through the learning curve
site conversions, so have not even installed it yet. It's on my to-do list
    for later this year :-)

    Hi Dana,
Like Mike and Chuck mentioned the Forms toolbar inf Fusion 11 has built PHP scripts for handling file uploads. If you're more comfortable with the BitMotion style component, Fusion also has a "Forms Handler v2" compoent that allows file uploads directly to your email box. There you can also restrict the uploads to only certain file extensions and add a CAPTCHA to help cut down on spam. A good virus scanner is still always recommend when receiving files from others

That solves a problem for me I hadn't got around to asking about.
    Thanks.
