Geez... Why can't I ever be one of the people who say, "Works for me, I don't know what's wrong with you."

I checked my Flash version, and it said, 10,0,12,36.
So I ran the updater to 10.0.45.2, and checked and it still said 10,0,12,36.
So I manually ran FlashUtil10x.exe, and it still said 10,0,12,36.
So I uninstalled all of the Flash plugins, and ran the installer.
Now it says version 10.0.45.2, but it still doesn't work.

It seems that Flash in IE and FF are actually different pieces of code.

I'm starting to side with Franko (and Mr Jobs), if Flash can't manage an update, and if it can't reliably be detected, it's borderline useless.

So much for my Flash site I was planning...

Edit: Also downloaded the standalone installer, quit FF, checked Task Manager to ensure there was no FF process still running, then ran the installer as ADMIN. Still the same on this particular site. Note to self: If creating a Flash site, check on every available browser.

Franko, not sure if this is easyspreadsheet converter, which uses flash for
the Graph, if you dont need the graph it should be usable without flash, I
have no issues seing and using the calculator, however I have flash
    installed.

Ok thanks guys. It seems that some can see it, a few (myself included) cannot. But at least the calculator is still useable, even if the graph can't be seen.

Franko after I answered your enquiry yesterday I tested your calculator on my laptop using firefox, the graph did not show up? I use spreadsheet converter for the calculator functions which also uses the flash graph, the point is it works on my laptop but it does not work for your graph, I have no explanation for this here is my link maybe those that could not view your chart could also test my chart?

Well, Mike, for your spreadsheet I do see the bar chart. But on Franko's I do not.

As I said, I've had a few (not many) sites where I've been asked to install Flash Player. I can't recall any off hand -- usually happens when I'm bouncing around from site to site, or chasing down some specific info.

I'm very curious now why some do this and others don't.
Is it related to the method used to check for Flash?
Is that something scripted into the page, or is it done by the browser?

I've never incorporated Flash, but I picked up Swish Max a while ago, and am considering doing either a full Flash site, or have some Flash bits.

Ray, Speadsheet converter converts excel files you design into html or ASP etc, the version you tested is html version, where an html page does all the calculations, and the .swf file displays the chart,

Flash not displaying only sometimes is usually an inserted Flash code issue (not a NOF issue). i.e. The object/params code is not exactly as it should be.

Wouldn't it be great if there was only a single browser to worry about!!!

I suspect he's referring to HTML-5, Steve Jobs' hammer to smash Adobe and Flash into non-existence. Expected to reach W3C Recommendation in the year 2022. Although that doesn't stop much of it from being in common usage before then.

Nothing to do with HTML5 (that's a whole other kettle of fish), but would make this problem go away!

    The issues are as follows:
Firefox ignores an object with a classid. It needs a different configuration to IE.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/490452

For specific computer issues if that isn't the issue, here is the fix for FireFox. The Flash Plugin for Firefox is different to IE.
