    Default MySQL PHP connector fail connection

    I'm trying to visualize a MySQL table in a NOF 10 page.
    I have intalled easyPHP and it works.
    The setup of the PHP connector is:

    type: custom string
    host : localhost
    engine MySql
    database : factory (the name of the database)
    user : root
    password : (root user hasn't any password)

    When I test the connection, the connection fails!
    The same result if I shut down the antivirus and the firewall.

    Do the connector require a special setup of MySql?
    Is there a way to understand what's going on inside
    php/apaches/MySql/netobject when the connection fails? (the given message
    "connection failed" doesn't helps very much!!)
    thanks

    If the datebase is on a remote (from you) server, the ISP likely doesn't allow remote connections for security reasons.

    If the database is local (on your computer), you need to install the MySQL ODBC connector.

    You can download it form the BeyondFusion.com Resources page or www.mysql.com.

    thank you CHUCK, the connection works and I've the connection with the local
    DB!
    But

    -I've published the page setting the connector
    type=custom string
    user, password from the ISP
    host=localhost (from the ISP)
    These settings works fine with PHPadmin. Opening the page (from the
    server) the remote DB (PHP+MySql) tell me "Unable to connect".

    -Local publish doesn't work too. The
    local dir is C:\program\easyPHP\www
    Selecting easyPHP/localSite there are many errors from the local server
    (ADODB should be compatible with ADOConnection..and other wornings)

    any ideas?
