    Default Hidden files after import?

After uploading my site using the 'from template' option, when I go to the 'user sites' directory within windows explorer, I cannot see my web site's filedirectory, files or the site file itsef. Somehow, I can open my web site within NetFusion Essentials, and the files are visable there, but I can't see them directly from windows (I am using Windows 7). How can I get visability? I need to be able to add files to the directory to add them to my site.

    Thanks,
    Curtis

If you only want to upload files you can add them as file assets and let Fusion handle it for you see this tutorial for more details: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=359

If you want to link to files you can do this from the links properties palette (fusion will create the link and upload the file automatically) see attached screenshot

So if I save a file to my HD that I want to link to (say a .pdf form that I want my page viewers to be able to download), how can I place it in the same folder as the rest of my docs if I can't see the contents of the folder?

You are trying to make it too hard......

Fusion takes care of it automatically for you.

Put some text on the page that you want to link from like "read this PDF file"
Highlight it and press the "Link" button on the text properties palette
Select "File Link" from the drop down
Click the "Browse" and navigate to the PDF file on your computer
Click on it to select it.
    Click OK

You will have a link to the PDF file and Fusion will upload it as a file asset. When the user clicks on the link the PDF file will download or open

Thanks. I understand what you are saying. Not meaning to make it complicated, but I'm trying not to have two seperate places in my directory that contain files for the web site.
    - The first would be in the directory that I don't have visability to any longer - when I imported the site.
    - The second location would be the one that I would use from now on.
I usually like a little sense of order while working, so this isn't ideal for me.

Unless I am mis-reading all of this and you're actually saying that fusion wil place the copy of the new asset into the directory that I can't see any longer when I go through the process you outlined? If so, can I delete the original file once I link it that way?

Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it.

Unfortunately Fusion controls everything. It is a database program that generates HTML code. Being a database program it is very good at keeping track of everything it uses (in fact it is so good that it can randomly shuffle things around and still know where everything is).

If you feel that you need more control over how things are constructed you "may" have to use another piece of software. I guess you can say that it is sort of like a group of people who like to drive shift and those who prefer automatic. Some want to control what gear they are in going up and down hills, the others don't care as long as they get where they are going.

You can try to export/import to see if your "disappearing" folder comes back for you.

You can try exporting then importing under a different site project name (pick a name that is different than your existing site project so that you do not over write what you have.... even appending a number to it would be fine).

Here are a couple of tutorials that will go over export import:

Here is a tutorial that will go over Fusion's file structure and what they all are and do:

and another one that covers how to tidy up things to get a clean web site structure
