Not to avoid solving your remote publish problem but...... You might be better off learning to use a 3rd party FTP program rather than using the built in FTP feature of Fusion. Fusion's FTP client does a lot of things "automatically" which is very convenient but keeps you out of the loop so you have no way of knowing what is going on with your remote files.

You may want to download Firezilla. It is a free FTP client and from what others have told me a nice product.

I have used cute-FTP pro for so many years that I will stick with that but it is commercial software... (i.e. it cost $$$)

By using a 3rd party FTP program you can see exactly what is on your drive and server and can keep a better handle on things.

Thanks for speedy reply. I mean no disrespect for your information at all, you obviously have this figured out. But I buy Fusion because I'm illierate about HTML,etc. and want things done for me automatically. Now you advise me to do away with the automatic stuff and download a third party. This is exactly why I liked Fusion. It's all in there and easy for people like me. Is there any way I can get the inhouse stuff to work. I am very grateful for your advice and time and feel a great deal of consternation questioning your advice.

Valerie, your points are well-taken... and Fusion does do a lot for you... even to the point of offering tools to create certain graphic design elements. But no doubt, you use Photoshop or something similar for the majority of your graphics because those are tools that are dedicated to graphic creation and are naturally more capable for that task. Fusion's FTP does, in fact, do the job quite effectively... and I use it probably 95% of the time. But as Mike says, you'll sometimes find that a 3rd party tool goes beyond the functionality of Fusion's built-in FTP... which, once again, makes total sense because 3rd party FTP tools focus entirely on that one single task... and so it is good advice to have one on hand. Many are free and they are dead simple to use so there's not much reason not to. If you use Firefox, it's even easier because FireFTP is a free extension that puts itself right into your browser.

You can go over the "how to set up a remote publish profile" tutorial and see if it helps: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=378

Do you have Fusion set to run under administration privileges?

If you use it 95% of the time, then that's what I want to do. For some reason I can't seem to get the publishing info into Fusion. Would you please tell me the first 3 things to do. Thanks for your interest and help.

Are you using a retail version of the product? There were some releases that were created for hosting companies and as promotional products that are locked into one remote FTP location and cannot be changed. Where did you purchase/acquire your version of Fusion?

If you are using a retail box version of the product do you have Fusion set to run as an administrator?

When I hit publish, the drop down box labeled server type doesn't appear.

I have never seen the publish settings box asking for test connection and all that other info. This is my problem.

    Thanks for your interest.

Are you following the info in this tutorial? http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=378

Can you post screen shots of what you see if it is different than this?

I hit publish. No window appears. After hitting publish i hit settings. I do not get all the things that tutorial shows. All I get is server type and profile name. Across the top I get a table showing three colums---profile name, server, and type. Tell me how to do a screen shot and its on its way.

    Thanks for your patience.
