Interesting, Anton. I don't have IE8 to test... can you post an image?
Interesting, Anton. I don't have IE8 to test... can you post an image?
sure, see below
the problem is that 52% windows users use XP and they are stuck with IE8

Thanks for the update.
Typically no one staying here at the moment has an iPad - just like the police, you can never find one when you need one!
I ended up parting with a few Euro's for the licenced version of Wowslider.
Having sorted through loads of the lists of sliders (spent many hours at that) I decided Wowslider was so easy to use and implement that the few bob was worth it in time saved.
Thanks again to all for the advice & help.
Cheers
Craig
yes, and I also know now how to do multiple ones on a single page with ease, so money well spent
I just wish one could control the DOCUMENT type in NOF without having to use notepad
I now have two sites running with it and they pass the W3C validation test
www.guarddogtraining.com.au and www.petstraining.com.au

Anton,
you haven´t used the DocType Component because of the validation test, like you said before.
It would make it a lot easier, of course...
Do you really think it´s such severe problem with this validation.
Sometimes I just give a toss about these validation pages.
If you are using NOF you can´t win a trophy there anyway.....

I just worry when a page throws 12 errors as a result of having two DOCUMENT tags, maybe I worry about nothing?
ideally, we need to get the makers of Nof to allow control over these settings
on another note: the makers of WOW Slider are using the strict tag just like Nof12 and as a result, their demos are not smooth in IE8, obviously they are not concerned about the XP users left on this planet (52%)
also, keep in mind that Windows 8 will be a disaster, mark my words, so XP and Win7 users will hang around for some time

Well, Anton,it´s not meant to be that you get 2 DocTypes in your page if you are using the Component.
I double checked it now, asked the creator of the SwissKnife Components and the result is as follows:
If you have NOF12 you can publish in DocType Loose mode if you go to Tools>Options>Actual Site-Options>HTML Options and remove the hook before Quirks Mode.
If you have an older version of NOF you can use the SwissKnife Components to pick the DocType for your page or the complete website.
In this case (Wow Slider) it should be Loose.
Stefan (the creator of these components) said that you should remove any DocType you inserted by hand. And it would just replace the original one from NOF.
I tested it again now and it works perfectly.
Anton, I don´t know why you got 2 DocTypes..??
Here, and for anybody who might be interested, two links for installation and use of this component.

Looking at the last few posts I might have a similar problem here.
My new banner displays fine in all browsers except that 1 image has a few bright spots in IE.
The other thing that seems to be happening is text that's central in Firefox, Chrome and Safari shifts right on some pages in IE.
Easiest seen if you click on any of the non-English links: www.arrowrocklodge.com/fr/ etc.
When I first published pages with the wowslider banner they flickered from left to right on IE. I then went to "current site options" and "html options" and un-ticked the "use quirk mode docstype" option.
This corrected the flickering but started the "right shift" issue.
Would the SwissKnife Docs component work better?
I'm using NOF12.
Cheers
Craig
The idea of the SwissKnife Component DocType is that you can use a different DocType when needed.
Wow Slider e.g. needs DocType Loose.
If you are using an older version of NOF this component comes handy.
But in your case, using NOF12 and if you un-ticked the Quirks mode you publish already with DocType Loose.
Have a look in your source code.
So using the component wouldn't probably change anything.

Hi Mia,
Thanks for that.
Just a few minutes after posting I spotted that the doctype was loose so didn't bother with the SwissKife component.
Looks like I'm stuck with the right shift so will find a "fudge" when I get a chance.
Cheers
